Treat Eczema With Aromatherapy

Eczema can be a very irritating skin condition. Scientists are not sure what causes Eczema but it seems to be a form of an allergic reaction. Eczema is characterized by itchy lesions that can become blister like before bursting. It seems that Eczema afflicts those in the same family, and anyone who has ever suffered from it knows that is can be a source of embarrassment and great discomfort.

There are many essential oils that may be used to treat Eczema. A great way to use these oils is by adding them to a cream base or lotion. You can then apply the cream or lotion to the spots any time you like. By using natural essential oils, you will not have to worry about side effects either.

You should check each essential oil for allergies and sensitivities before using it. To check for allergic reactions, apply one drop of oil at the nape of the neck or in the crook of the arm. Wait up to fourteen hours and check the site for any reactions. If fourteen hours pass and there is still no reaction, it is safe to assume that the oil is safe.

Pregnant women, children, the elderly, and those with depressed immune systems should also double check the safety rules before using an essential oil. Many oils contain the natural properties that are inherent to the plant and some of these plants can readjust sugar levels, promote menstruation, and may be dangerous to some people. It is important to always read the safety precautions of each oil before using it as well.

Many essential oils will take the itching out of the skin and help repair the skin and keep it rejuvenated. This is very important when it comes to treating Eczema. It may also be very beneficial to take some herbal teas or treatments that will help strengthen the Immune System as well. Some herbs that are great Immune System strengtheners include Goldenseal, Echinacea, and Garlic. By adding these to your diet you are helping to strengthen you Immune System from the inside.

You can create wonderfully healing massage oil that will help cool and stop the itching from Eczema. Simply add three drops of Bergamot oil, three drops of Geranium oil, six drops of Juniper oil, three drops of Lavender oil and blend it with one ounce of carrier oil. You can choose Sweet Almond oil, Jojoba oil, or Sunflower oil as your carrier oil.

You can use this massage oil anytime you notice a flare of Eczema on the skin. Keep this oil stored in an amber container and keep it out of direct sunlight. If the itching becomes unbearable or covers a large area, you may decide to take an infused bath instead of just applying the oil directly. Simply add the oil to a full bath of hot water. Make sure that you soak for at least 20 minutes. It is also important to note that you should not use any soap in the tub. Just soak in the aromatic tub for best results.
