The Magic of Aromatherapy

One of the nature’s greatest gifts to mankind is the magical properties of Aromatherapy essential oils. Its existence is considered to be very ancient, with a history of 3500 years. Latest research has only recently shown what aroma therapists have known for many ages: what we smell has a direct impact on how we feel. Like the other common senses, the things we smell are transmitted directly to the brain.  Research has proved that lavender aroma steps up alpha waves in the back of the head, which is associated with relaxation. That means using lavender helps you to relax. On the other hand, jasmine scent increases beta waves in the front of the head, which has been found to make you feel more alert. You will be on your toes, if you smell jasmine. There are so many ways that aromatherapy essential oils can help our moods.

Sometimes aromatherapy gifts can be a very good choice for relatives, although often they don't give the impression that all that much thought went in to picking out the present. I would get scented oils, fragrant candles, and other aromatherapy gifts from my niece and nephew every year, and always thought that it meant that they didn't care all that much about me, or at least did not know my taste in things. Nevertheless, some of these aromatherapy gifts were quite pleasant.

To help with self-healing there are numerous aromatherapy products available to fit any circumstance and need. From massage lotions and oils to essential oils for candle making there are products available to help with the distribution of the oils. Many people are looking for diversity in their aromatherapy products such as bath oils and candles to complement their body lotions and massage oil. Preferably, all of the aromatherapy products will be the same scents, although different ones create a different environment. For those looking to relax, for instance, lavender is the all-around aroma while peppermint is said to offer awareness and vivid thought. Regardless of the type of oil used, there are numerous ways to disperse the benefits throughout your home.

Aromatherapy treatment has been used for centuries in one form or another, to treat a host of mental and physical ailments. In the early 1900’s, a French chemist named Rene-Maurice Gattefosse discovered the healing elements in the essential oils that are found in some plants, and coined the term aromatherapy. Since that time, aromatherapy treatment has become big business, and qualified aromatherapists are easy to find to assist you with your aromatherapy treatment. You can either choose this route for your aromatherapy, or you can purchase the oils through a health food store, pharmacy or over the Internet and use the oils at home for maximum benefit.
